I have been in practice since 1989, covering the areas of Kensington, Paddington, Holland Park, Notting Hill and West London since 1995. However, my clients come to experience McTimoney from many London suburbs, surrounding counties and overseas.
In that time I have treated all of the following conditions: headaches originating from the neck, shoulder complaints including soft tissue disorders, back pain, lumbago, sciatica, osteoarthritic pain, elbow pains, plantar fasciitis (short term management) and muscle spasms.
This list is not exhaustive of what McTimoney Chiropractic can treat.
The number of treatments varies. Generally, I see clients between 2-6 times, depending on some of the following factors: age, lifestyle, length of time they have had the condition – acute conditions generally respond faster than chronic conditions, stress and general health. I will liaise with the clients’ Doctor if the case warrants it before any treatment is actioned and in some instances I have been referred by their General Practitioner in the first place.
Common conditions treated with McTimoney chiropractic
People come to see Aarti for many different reasons. The conditions treated most often in her Kensington and Hertfordshire clinics include:
- Lower back pain and stiffness
- Neck and shoulder pain
- Sciatica and leg pain linked to the lower back
- Joint aches in the hips, knees and ankles
- Postural strain from desk work and driving
- Aches during and after pregnancy
- Sports and exercise strains
Every client is different, so the list of conditions treated here is a guide rather than a promise. At your first appointment Aarti takes a full case history and examines your whole body before suggesting a plan. If she feels another approach or further tests would help, she will refer you to your GP.
How McTimoney care works
McTimoney chiropractic looks at how the whole body is working together, not only the area that hurts. Pain in one place is often linked to tension or imbalance somewhere else, so Aarti checks the feet, pelvis, spine, shoulders and skull. Adjustments are light, fast and precise, and most people find them comfortable and relaxing.
Alongside treatment you will be given simple advice on posture, movement and self-care, so you can support your progress at home between sessions.

Is your condition not listed?
The conditions treated above are only examples. If you are unsure whether McTimoney care is right for you, get in touch and Aarti will be happy to talk it through. You can also read about the profession on the McTimoney Chiropractic Association website, or learn more about the McTimoney method.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on the problem, how long you have had it, your age and your general health. A recent strain often settles in a few sessions, while long-standing problems may need a little longer and occasional maintenance visits. Aarti will always explain what she expects, review your progress at each appointment and never pressure you into a long course of treatment.
Looking after yourself between visits
Small daily habits make a real difference to most of the conditions treated in clinic. Take regular breaks from sitting, set up your desk so your screen is at eye level, stay hydrated and keep gently active with walking, swimming or stretching. If you notice new or worsening symptoms, such as numbness, weakness or pain that wakes you at night, speak to your GP promptly. Read what other clients say about their care.
